Young Chief, of the Cayuses
I wonder if the ground has anything to say?
I wonder if the ground is listening to what is said?
I wonder if the ground would come alive and what is on it?
Though I hear what the ground says, the ground says,
it is the Great Spirit that placed me here.
The Great Spirit tells me, to take care of the Indians,
to feed them aright. The Great Spirit appointed the roots
to feed the Indians on.
The water says the same thing.
The Great Spirit directs me, feed the Indians well.
The grass says the same thing, feed the Indians well.
The Ground, Water, and Grass say, the Great Spirit has
given us our names.
The ground says, the Great Spirit has placed me here,
to produce all that grows on me, trees and fruit.
The same way the ground says, it was from me man
was made.
The Great Spirit, in placing men on the earth, desired
them to take good care of the ground,
and to do each other no harm.
But ask the animals, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? JOB 12:7-8
"Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect."
- Chief Seattle, Suquamish Tribe
"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be." - Anne Frank
"Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean." - John Muir
HOME
Home,
It's far away from Home.
Where I call Home.
Home,
It's far away from Home.
No walls,
No phone calls,
Where I call Home.
Home,
Where I'm free to roam,
All the day long,
In my Home.
Home,
Where I'm not alone,
You can hear the sounds,
The sounds of Home.
Home,
It's far away from Home,
Where the day's light,
Becomes the moon's light,
Here at Home.
Home
It's far away from Home
Where I call Home.
Home,
There's no place like Home,
Where the water shapes,
Shapes the stones,
It's far away from Home,
Where I call Home.
